I am a traveler on a budget went to New York and hostels seem to have good prices, even with mixed reviews.

But what is the difference? (I know it sounds stupid, I know I am ... in households where bathroom facilities are shared, but that's the only difference?)

The West Side Inn & Hostel, The West End Studios & Hostel, The Continental Inn, and the Broadway Hotel and Hostel advertised on Expedia, with good prices. But I know what Im getting into.
